Do I need an AM and PM routine?

Having both a morning and evening skincare routine can be very beneficial, as your AM and PM products should serve different purposes. In the morning, your routine should focus on protection, including moisturizing and applying sunscreen to shield your skin from environmental damage like UV rays and pollution. At night, your skin goes into repair mode, so your routine should emphasize cleansing to remove build-up, excess oil, and makeup, and applying nourishing treatments like serums, retinol, or creams to aid in skin regeneration. In addition to this, products with retinol or exfoliating ingredients accelerate the production of new skin cells, leaving your skin’s surface more sensitive to UV rays – therefore, we generally recommend applying these to your PM routine. A consistent AM and PM routine helps keep your skin balanced, protected, and glowy.

Should I shift my routine with the seasons?

Though you generally should avoid deviating from your routine too often, it can be beneficial to adjust your skincare routine with the seasons. In colder months, your skin may need more hydration and moisture, causing a need for a richer moisturizer, such as our Ultra-Rich Cream. In warmer months, lighter products like gel-based moisturizers, such as our fast-absorbing 24-Hour Hydra Gel can be a better choice. Additionally, increased SPF in summer is key to preventing UV damage – we recommend our broad-spectrum Facial Sunscreen SPF30 and Facial Sunscreen SPF50 for this purpose. Tailoring your routine helps maintain balanced, healthy skin year-round and help prevent the common skin concerns that tend to come with the change of weather.

How do I choose the right products for my skin?

To choose the right products for your skin, it’s important to know your skin type and its specific needs. If you have oily skin, it may be a good idea to opt for lightweight products with non-comedogenic ingredients, while ingredients like salicylic acid or retinol can help reduce the occurrence of breakouts. You can find salicylic acid in our Skin Perfector 2% BHA, while Vitamin A (retinol) is the main character of our Vitamin A Treatment Cream. If you struggle with sensitive skin, we generally recommend fragrance-free products with gentle ingredients. Soothing components like aloe vera and balancing ingredients such as actibiome can be beneficial – both are found in our Daily Hydra Cream Sensitive. If you want the benefits of exfoliation while regulating your skin’s microbiome and oil production, Seboclear™ is a wonderful ingredient to do so. Find it in our Skin Perfector Seboclear. If your skin feels dry, dull, and flaky, it’s important to determine whether it is dry or dehydrated. Dry skin lacks natural oils and needs products with nourishing ingredients, such as our Ultra-Rich Cream. Dehydrated skin is caused by a lack of water, where ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin are ideal as they help retain moisture in the skin. Our Intense Hydra Serum is ideal to treat dehydration. In short, dry skin is a skin type, while dehydrated skin can occur across all skin types.

What are the right products for sensitive skin?

For sensitive skin, choose gentle, fragrance-free products that are specifically formulated to minimize irritation. Look for soothing ingredients, like aloe vera, and balancing ingredients like actibiome, both of which you can find in our Daily Hydra Cream Sensitive. Avoid harsh exfoliants, alcohol, and strong fragrances, which is a common allergen. Always patch test new products to ensure they are safe for your skin. Opt for natural, mild washing agents that won’t strip the skin of its natural, necessary oils. Our vitamin-infused Cleansing Balm is a great choice for sensitive skin types thanks to its fragrance-free and nourishing formula, containing 100% natural washing agents.
