What is dry skin?

Dry skin is caused by a lack of oil production in the skin. In other words: Your skin is not able to replenish all its layers efficiently by itself nor retain the moisture encapsulated. The following consequence is that more moisture evaporates from the skin than is absorbed. As a result, dry skin often feels tight, rough, and itchy, and is prone to flaking and cracking.
